Individual Insurance Plans for International Students
General Information*
The Harbour Group, LLC offers two individual medical insurance plans to International Students and Scholars. The Harbour Group has more than 23 years of continuous service to international education and is focused on the needs of international students and institutions. The International Student & Scholar Medical Insurance Plan offers medical coverage as well as other benefits to international students, scholars and faculty. The Medical Evacuation and Repatriation Plan is designed to be a supplement to existing medical insurance coverage, as it only provides medical evacuation and repatriation coverage.Plan Summary
International Student & Scholar Medical Insurance Plan 2003-2004Benefit Amounts:
$250,000 - Accident and Sickness Benefit (per injury or illness)
$ 50,000 - Medical Evacuation Benefit
$ 50,000 - Repatriation of Remains Benefit
$ 10,000 - Accidental Death Benefit
The plan also includes worldwide assistance services at no additional cost. On-line enrollment is available at www.hginsurance.com or students can mail or fax their enrollment form to the company.
Who is Eligible?
International students, visiting faculty members, scholars, or other persons with a current visa (F-1, J-1, M-1) are eligible to enroll in this policy. You must be temporarily residing outside of your home country and engaged in full time educational activities in the United States. Persons with permanent residency status are not eligible to enroll.Eligible dependents under this policy include your spouse and your unmarried dependent children under age 19 who accompany you on your international education activities.
Eligibility is subject to re-verification at the time of Application for renewal coverage and when claims are presented. If the eligibility requirements are not met on the date of Loss, the claim will not be considered and Premium will be refunded for the ineligible period.

You can visit The Harbour Group Web site at www.hginsurance.com or complete the enrollment form in the brochure (to request a brochure call 1-800-252-8160) and mail it back to The Harbour Group along with a copy of your I-20, IAP-66, or DS-2019 and your payment for the Total Premium due. You will receive a student medical insurance identification card, which is for your use only.When does coverage begin and end?
Coverage begins at 12:01 a.m. on either the date you request on the Enrollment Form or the date your completed Enrollment Form and Total Premium are received by The Harbor Group, whichever date is later.Coverage ends at 12:01 a.m. on the last day for which your premium has been paid, the date you cease to be eligible for this insurance, or the date the Policy terminates, whichever occurs first.
Benefits Included:
Hospital Expenses
Including hospital room and board, pre-admission tests, surgical expenses, physician and licensed nurse expenses, and newborn infant expenses. Some limits apply, refer to the plan brochure for details.Outpatient Expenses
Outpatient surgery expenses, outpatient physician expenses, emergency medical expenses, and other miscellaneous hospital outpatient expenses. Refer to the plan brochure for details on benefit amounts and limitations.Other Medical Expenses
Including consultant, ambulance, X-Ray and lab, prescription medicines, physical therapy, psychiatric, mammogram, well child, and home country expenses. Refer to the plan brochure for benefit amounts and limitations.Medical Evacuation
When, as a result of injury or sickness, you or your covered dependents are hospitalized for five consecutive days, the plan will pay for the evacuation of you or your dependents to your home country or to a facility operated according to the law for the care and treatment of injured or ill persons. This can only be done upon recommendation and approval of the attending physician. The plan will pay the exact cost incurred, not exceeding $50,000 USD and all expenses must be approved prior to evacuation. Refer to the plan brochure for details.Repatriation
If you or dependents die while insured, the plan will pay the actual expenses incurred for preparation and transportation to your home country for the deceased's remains. Expenses are not to exceed $50,000 USD and must have prior approval from the company. Refer to the plan brochure for details.

Redstone College does not currently offer a group insurance plan for our international students; however, we do require you to carry individual medical insurance coverage while studying in the United States as hospital expenses and other medical costs are very high and often impossible to pay on an individual income alone.
